Sun Requirements

Planting Instructions

Select a location with plenty of space for the tree to mature (mature spread up to 40–50 feet).

Dig a hole twice as wide and just as deep as the root ball.

Backfill with native soil, press firmly, and water deeply after planting.

Apply 2–3 inches of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk.
Soil Requirements
Tolerates a wide range of soils including loam, sand, clay, and even periodically wet or compacted sites. Best growth occurs in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil.
Fertilizer
Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring during the first couple of years after planting to promote establishment. Mature trees typically do not require regular fertilization.
