Loblolly Pine (Pinus taeda)

is a fast-growing Florida native evergreen that provides height, screening, and a strong vertical presence in large-scale landscapes. Its tall, straight trunk, spreading mature crown, and long needles—typically grouped in threes—give it a distinctly Southern character suited to parks, acreage, naturalized plantings, and broad property buffers. Loblolly Pine is common across Central and North Florida, where it is especially associated with loamy soils and former agricultural land.

Best planted in full sun with ample room for mature height and canopy spread, Loblolly Pine develops into a substantial shade and habitat tree, often reaching 50 to 80 feet in the landscape. Its cones and evergreen canopy provide food, cover, and nesting value for wildlife, while its rapid growth makes it a practical choice where a native pine canopy or privacy buffer is needed relatively quickly.
