Discover Eastern Redbud, a Florida native flowering tree with vivid pink spring blooms, heart-shaped leaves, and valuable pollinator appeal.

Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis)

is one of Florida’s most celebrated small native trees, bringing an early burst of vivid pink flowers to residential, civic, and naturalistic landscapes. Before the foliage emerges in late winter to early spring, clusters of rosy-magenta blooms cover its branches and trunk, providing an important early-season resource for pollinators.flawildflowers+1

With a mature height generally around 20 to 30 feet, Eastern Redbud is well suited to patios, entries, courtyards, woodland edges, and understory planting beneath larger canopy trees. It performs best in well-drained soil with full sun to partial shade, particularly in North and Central Florida; give it protection from salt exposure and persistently waterlogged sites.
