Fignomenal Fig (Ficus carica) – Liner
USDA Zones: 7–10
Fignomenal is a compact, highly productive fig variety perfect for small spaces, patios, or container growing. This dwarf fig typically grows up to 3–4 feet tall and wide, making it ideal for urban gardens or limited spaces. Despite its small size, it produces an abundance of sweet, medium-sized figs with rich flavor, perfect for fresh eating or preserves.
Soil Requirements:
Fignomenal thrives in well-drained, fertile soils. It prefers loamy or sandy soil with good organic content. Ideal soil pH is between 6.0 and 6.5. Avoid heavy, poorly draining clay soils, which can lead to root rot.
Watering Needs:
Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish strong roots. Once established, Fignomenal is fairly drought-tolerant, but consistent moisture (especially during fruiting) will promote better yields. Allow the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings—avoid keeping it constantly wet.
Growth & Care:
This fast-growing, naturally compact fig is self-pollinating, so you only need one plant to produce fruit. It thrives best in full sun (at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily). In colder zones, it can be grown in containers and overwintered indoors. In the landscape, Fignomenal works beautifully as a specimen plant, low hedge, or edible landscape feature.
Quick Highlights:
Height & Spread: 3–4 feet mature size
Fruiting: Heavy producer, harvest figs in late summer to fall
Sun: Full sun for best production
Maintenance: Low-maintenance once established
