Thai Dwarf Mulberry (Morus alba var. macroura)

1–2 Feet in Height

Thai Dwarf Mulberry is a compact, everbearing fruiting shrub known for its elongated, sweet berries and continuous harvest throughout the growing season. This highly productive variety stays smaller than traditional mulberries, making it ideal for backyard gardens, patios, edible landscapes, and container growing. Its heavy fruit production and manageable size make it a favorite for families and home growers.

Mature Size

Typically grows 6–10 feet tall with a similar spread, but can be easily maintained at 4–6 feet with regular pruning.

USDA Growing Zones

Thrives in USDA Zones 8–10 and performs exceptionally well in warm Southern climates, including Florida.

Placement & Sun Exposure

Plant in full sun for maximum fruit production. Thai Dwarf Mulberry will tolerate light partial shade, but full sun ensures sweeter fruit and heavier yields.

Planting Instructions

Dig a hole twice as wide and the same depth as the root ball. Position the plant at the same soil level as it was in the container. Backfill with native soil, water thoroughly, and apply a light layer of mulch, keeping mulch away from the trunk.

Soil Requirements

Adaptable to sandy, loamy, and well-drained soils. Performs especially well in Florida’s sandy soils as long as drainage is adequate.

Watering

Water consistently during the first growing season to establish strong roots. Once established, Thai Dwarf Mulberry is moderately drought tolerant but produces best with regular watering during fruiting.

Fertilizer

Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring and again in mid-summer to support continuous fruit production.

Pruning

Prune lightly throughout the growing season to control size and encourage branching. Heavier pruning can be done in late winter to maintain a compact, bushy form and stimulate new fruiting wood.

🌱 Plants provided by Flowing Well Tree Farm are locally grown and selected for long-term success in Florida landscapes.

Perfect for edible gardens, containers, backyard orchards, and family-friendly fruiting landscapes, Thai Dwarf Mulberry delivers abundant harvests, compact growth, and easy care all season long.
